Getting a new combi boiler installed and we need bigger gas pipes, so have decided to get it piped from meter up to attic, is that because its a combi boiler or do all condensing boilers need bigger gas pipes

We are getting a bosch 25si

It would not be unusual for old gas supply pipework needing to be upgraded to accommodate the requirements for condensing boilers, especially if the oringinal pipework is mostly 1/2" diameter.

In fairness gas pipe sizing hasn't changed since it was invented, the pipe must be big enough to pass the amount of gas a appliance requires to work properly or the appliance is under gassed.

It's only in the last few years with better education and enforcement that installers are taking gas pipe sizing more seriously than the installers that went before them.
