Car keeps cutting out.

I've a 2007 Opel corsa with 120,000km on the clock. It's been recently serviced and normally runs fine but in the last few days the car has started cutting out straight after starting the engine. It also cuts out when I stop the car. I can feel the car lose power rapidly when I slow down. There is also a weird smell when I drive. Any ideas what this may be?

Sounds like the idle control. I've seen this in a couple of cars i've owned. A good clean of the throttle body will likely solve it.

+1 on idle control valve sticking..

Get yourself a spray can of carb cleaner and a rag.

Strip back from air intake until you get to ICV and give it a good cleaning.
