Why do some people like pets and lots of others don't?

I just wondered what the thinking is.

I don't have pets myself but that is a personal choice. I would not have the discipline or the time to walk them every day (dogs) and so sorry, but cats don't do it for me.

I like other people's pets though. But they are not my responsibility!

I hasten to add that I am NOT an animal hater at all. It is just not for me.

So I wondered why some are, and some aren't in the business of having pets at home.

    Thanks!

I guess it's like why some people like/want kids and some don't. I find children adorable- sometimes- and I enjoy playing with other people's children if I get on with them and vice versa (they're people, they have their own personalities, with all people you'll get on with some better than others). But I have no actual desire to have my own. Some people don't like children at all and to me that's fair- so long as you don't then have them.

This is my feelings on people who don't like pets. In the real world I tend to say socially acceptable things, but secretly I'm judging them!
