Passat B7 140TDI remap

    Howdy all,

I hope to have a 140TDI Passat coming in the next few weeks from the UK.

I read online that it is a great engine to remap as people tend to prefer the 140 remapped to 170ish compared to the 170 version of the engine due to the smaller turbo having more pep.

I am wondering where the best place would be for a VAG remap around Dublin.

I am getting the car from Manchester, a city I know well, and I would be open to getting it done over there while I am over there, but if the Dublin remappers are good then I would prefer to wait.

    Thanks!

Joe power is the man for the job. My advice would be drive it in standard form for a while.

Two reasons, it gives you a chance to see if any problems manifest themselves with your new purchase you will also appreciate the remap more having got to know the car in standard form.

Best of luck with the new motor :)

I had a 2011 Passat CC with 140bhp from the factory, had Joe remap it to 170bhp on the flywheel. Totally transformed the car. I'd wait until the VW warranty has expired before getting it done though.

    Thanks guys. Good advice.
Joe Power is still around? He's the Chippedire guy? Websites down it seems

He's TDR performance google him for details.

George Dalton is also an official Revo dealer now so you've got two good choices there.

Joe was working out of BlackChurch Motors in Rathcoole when I went up to him which would have been about 2 years ago.

Joe is working out of Stone Motorsport in Monasterevin these days.

We have a VW CC 2.0TDI 140 demo car available with REVO stage 1 software so you can test drive any time you want ;)

Out of interest George, are you mapping non VAG stuff too, i.e. a BMW F10?

At the moment we are just doing the REVO product and they only supply software for VW Group and certain Ford applications.

I wouldn't rule out expanding in future though.

I reckon this is nonsense tbh. The 170bhp engine is the one to go for IMO, and then map it as well!

    Thanks all.

The Passat 140 turned into an A4 140 but I'm still up for a remap.

How long would a remap take? I may have to travel a wee distance for a map, unless there are good Dublin based ones.

I don't know the remap side of things well in terms of providers, what's a good one, what's not or cost.

It depends on what type of map you want.

REVO or a standard issue Joe map takes less than an hour.

A custom map on a rolling road will obviously take longer but on a standard 2.0TDI it's pretty unnecessary IMO.

    It's a Multitronic gearbox.
Any issues with those being mapped?

I had a  09 Passat cc gt 140 tdi tuned by Joe on the dyno. After a couple of hours  the engine was putting out 189 bhp!. I had no issues with the car for the two and a half years I had it.  Economy was fantastic too.

How much was that, if you don't mind my asking?
