Stove Oil usage

We are renting a small cottage, 550 sf. One bedroom, loft room, hall, bath, kitchen. The hall has a small radiator and the bath has a narrow/tall rad. One rad in living area and a hug rad in bedroom. It has an old Hamco 2000 oil range. We had the owner clean the chimney and service the stove. It had not been done in well over ten years. Insulation in the ceiling is probably minimal. Aluminium doors in hall. It is to hot in living room to leave the door closed so air circulates into hall, unheated kitchen, and bath.

26/09/16 we put 250 liters in...a test run so to speak. It lasted 6 weeks running 8-10 hours a day on low setting. The occasional bump up to #2...these last two mornings we have had it on 2 for about 2-3 hours. We just put in 875 liters and are hoping to make it last at least 4 months

We have never used oil heat before.

With each bump up in settings, how much additional oil is put through the system? It is not on at night.

We have cut the bedroom rad to 1/2 as it was roasting in there, and the sitting room rad to 1/2 for same reason. The hall and bath rads are warmer than they were. Is this efficient?

All in all...what is the most efficient use of this old heater in this house?
