Not sure what NMT stands for, but from that link he doesn't seem to be either a Physio or a Physical Therapist...

ciaran doesnt have a degree or whatever fancy pieces of paper but gives a damn good rub down. hes highly recommended by other sports instructors around the town, and hes also a really nice chap. he ll tell you after a while if he cant help you and will advise you what to do from there.

I'd recommend Ciaran too. Having used him in the past, he was probably the best of the few I tried. I've not had to see anyone since, so he must've done something right.

You wont get better than Des O'Meara. Hes a Neuro Muscular Therapist (NMT)who will fix any problem you have & reasonable. The other good thing is his work is covered under your health insurance so you will get some money back.

Nigel O'Connor in Somerville Tramore. http://nigeloconnor.com/ Really knows his stuff, I'd highly recommend him. Having been to other physios in Waterford, he's the one I return to when I'm in bother.

    +1 on this

Nigel is the best I've been to and he's fixed my issues every time. He's fully qualified and not one of those who became a physio through a part-time course. He also doesn't tell you to come back for more visits unless you really need to. If you want to get better, go to him.

michael o'sullivan all the way, best physio ive ever been to. after seeing a couple of doctors, couple of physios, consultant, mri etc etc, michael was the only one that correctly diagnosed my problem and virtually solved it after just one consultation.

Can anyone recommend a physio in the city?

I used to go to Des O'Meara, but he has moved his practice to Fethard.

Ciaran is top class, Anthony Flanagan in Tramore is another good option if Ciaran isn’t taking on new clients

I be very careful when looking for a "physio" in Waterford

Try go with a chartered physio if you can as opposed to the many "rubbers, sports massage specialists etc" that are around. Most of these people might be qualified in their own head but trust me they aint. They will do for a rub, flush out but anything serious I wouldn't go near them.

I have seen and heard of sum horror stories from people who were treated by "physios" who have only done a few part time/weekend courses.

    My 2 cents..

Depends on the injury, the experience of the physio and the methods used.

Another vote for Anthony Flanagan. And also in Tramore, Nigel O'Connor is very good.

Nigel O'Connor in Somerville, Tramore is the best I've been to and I've been to quite a few in my years.

He takes the time to listen to your complaint and makes the correct diagnosis after doing some tests. It's not a rushed process like others have to get you in and out the door and back next week with more money. Very rarely have I needed a follow-up visit and he would never ask you to return if you didn't need it. Physical therapists with a love for the job and not the income are well worth the investment.

I know Ciaran Power and Anthony Flanagan personally, both are excellent and would recommend either of them. Brian Quann is also very good, he works out of Bodyworks as far as I know

Ryan Foley in evolve physiotherapy is very good, really helped fix back issue I've had for years

as an aside though if someone asks for a physio recommendation, shouldn't really be recommending people who aren't chartered physios

Whether a person needs physiotherapy or physical therapy, is more of a medical decision though, isn't it, so maybe we should just recommend them a doctor... ;)
