Providing Service - Self or Client Paid?

    Hi Folks,

A client approached us and asked us to take over the support of a service they currently admin e.g. Google Adwords. They have a fixed budget for this but just don't have the time to properly review and base their response on it. Hence the possible acquisition of the portfolio.

As a result, from a financial standpoint to an Ltd, is it more or less advantageous for us to take over complete financial control of the Adword account e.g. Charge the client their existing budget plus our fee and we are financially responsible to Google or, leave the client in charge of the account financially and merely charge them our fee?

    Thanks!

Merely charge them your fee is my strong advice. If Google were giving you some sort of special deal it would be a different matter but they aren't.

    I would agree with antoinolachtnai.
As Google will automatically take prefixed amount from card once the adwords credit limit is reached, it is much easier to have the clients card details on the account. Then if the client is late paying or defaults the ads stop running and the client is liable not you.
If you are paying for the ads and then invoicing you can then get left with a Google bill that you will have no choice but to clear if you want to keep any other Google accounts you may have working.

No need to take on the actual financial account, never do that unless it's absolutely necessary (and it shouldn't ever be really). The client is the one paying for and benefitting from the clicks, so it doesn't make any sense (and nor is it a good idea) for your payment details to be on the account.
