Thoughts on this vintage Memovox

    Hello chaps,

In the market for a nice vintage dress watch and was searching for a nice 5xx/6xx Cal Omega sub €1k but the JLC Memovox has really caught my eye and although over budget this one is 'manageable'. For a 60's watch it looks in good nick to me and the seller has decent rep etc

Can I ask for the thoughts of members here, anything jump out at you as wrong with it?

It's a nice looking watch. But that is a big price. There is better value out there IMO.

Have you owned a buzz watch before? I have had a few and they are a nice novelty but it can be anoying that if the alarm is not wound the watch rattles slightly. So you need to wind the alarm slightly to stop this. And of course then the alarm will buzz slightly when the time comes round.

Having said that though, they are a talking point and people do notice them.

I haven't seen nicer (bar a few select Omega De Villes) is the thing, i just think its looks so classy and having a JLC would be pretty cool - that's the watch nerd in me talking, i expect no one to ever even comment on it in person if i go ahead :D

Last option that maybe interests me is maybe a vintage date just but that's similar money and i like that you rarely see a JLC in the wild

Have you any other recommendations you can make for classy dress watches circa €1k, i missed the one below on ebay recently - was trying to be too clever and got outbid at last second - gutted!!!!!:(

That's very pretty. I do have a bit of a fixation on twin crown watches though.

I'd suggest the best source of info on vintage JLC is this forum run by a chap called Zaf

It may also be worth contacting the forum owner as he also deals in JLC.

The watch in question is lovely (I'm not in a position to comment on its' correctness, however) though I've seen a blue-dialled version which is even nicer.

    Seems pricey.

I have had a newer Master Control Reveil version and stupidly sold it.

    The chime was lovely!

There are really nice watches and the chime is a nice and unusual complication to have on a watcn. In addition it is also a great talking point when they alarm.
