Saw ad in paper today from Mercedes saying that they are reducing retail prices by 10per cent across the whole range for a limited period.
Will significantly shake things up if correct I guess and a sickener for anybody that bought one this year.

I saw the ad in the examiner and went online but the MB website is terrible.

    No pricelist
    no car configurator
    no brochures.

Way behind the two other german marques. On the lookout myself for a new motor and have been able to build and spec a 3 series and an a4 and have an idea of price......................but will have to call to the local MB dealer.

    Yeah
Looked at website after I saw ad.
    Very poor altogether.
Guessing prices are down as need to be updated but agree it's way behind other manufacturers website.

Agree completely. MB website is dreadful ! Almost impossible to put together the spec you want and figure out the cost, whether it's an A Class or an S Class. No configurator, in today's on-line user marketplace must be losing them sales.

At the higher end, perhaps there is an attitude that those who can afford one, don't care about the cost and the spec etc. Big mistake, they do, that's why they have the money in the first place.

BMW, Audi and now even Jag are miles ahead

After my post I emailed mb and got a reply I was directed to an April 2016 price list and a generic c class brochure as each picture had an asterix not Irish specifications. I mean how hard is it to say what's in an se or avantgarde or sport or amg line spec.

I then had a look at the uk site but different model variants. Mb Germany would be better of taking control of Irish distribution and give us the European spec models rather than some cobbled together Irish spec we get at the moment.

They had to realign prices as second hand U.K. Imports were killing them

MB are being completely held back by the likes of MSL in this country. You might consider giving head office an email of your experiences.

I wonder is this 10% reduction clawed back through a reduced straight deal discount or trade-in value?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,742 ✭✭✭carsfan2

Definitely some will be clawed back in what they offer on a trade in.
Kinda feel sorry for any purchasers of 161/162 new Mercedes as it's financial slap in the face.
I drove new model e class a few months back with my dad as he has current e and it's a fab car. With another 5 grand oddd knocked off now it's reasonable value for what you now get as standard too.

Interesting that they've said that one of the reasons for the (temporary) price reduction is to try and stop tempting buyers making their purchase in the UK.

And I totally agree with the others, the sooner Stuttgart takes over Mercedes in Ireland, the better. They're one of the few marques which still uses an importer to bring in and sell the cars in Ireland (Toyota being the other notable manufacturer to still use an importer rather than doing it themselves).
