Hi all. Let me start by saying I have ZERO clue about cars.

Anyway brought the car to get NCTd tonight. It's not had one in a while. Was estatic that it passed on the major checks. Anyway the lads told me the reason it failed is thay it had a crack/chip on back lights...the red brake lights and a bit of metal hanging off the back.

He told me most garages will weld the metal back on. He also said to get some tape for the back lights....now this is the part thay got me...he said the tape MIGHT be enough to pass and I could get it in halfords. Call back in and they would look at it outside for free.

Is it likely the tape is enough and he just can't say this or likely I get the tape and it still fails.

Also what tape is he on about and where can I get it.

Again apologies about the silliness I'm a car novice.

I just picked up a secondhand rear light cluster off adverts.ie. Very easy to fit too.

A tip OP, always start with car make and model when asking questions in a Motors forum.
This will help us help you better.

Get the tape and go back and see if they pass the car.



If there is moisture inside the light you may have to use a hairdryer from inside (after having removed the bulb) to dry the light after you have taped it.
