VRT - Extras - Based on the UK Spec or equivalent Irish Spec?

    Howdy all,

Are the extras which the VRT people charge based off whether they are extras in the country of origin or when compared to the equivalent model in Ireland?

I am hopefully importing a VW Passat Executive Style; this model has no extras. The leather, heated seats, parking sensors etc. are all standard on that specification.

The VRT calculator has this model on their site, so does this mean that the VRT calculator is giving me the full amount that they could charge me?

    Thanks!

It should be that amount provided the UK spec is the same as Irish spec of the same name.

Extras are items not standard on a given spec.

An executive style model would have a higher vrt amount than a base model as it's worth more, so once you select the right model on the calculator you should be fine.

    Thanks for the replies.

It seems there are two understandings here.

    1) Its compared to Irish spec and the extras of the UK model compared to Irish are charged in addition to the VRT calc website.

    2) Given the Exec. Style has no extras, its all bundled in with the online calc. amount with no additional cost.

    Thanks for the help

If that model doesn't exist here, they will have to count up the extras over the nearest irish spec I would have thought.

I'm not sure, I think they just contact Revenue who will contact the manufacturer for details of the spec and any factory extras.

Either way, it looks like the differences between the Irish Highline and the UK Exec. Style are minimal.
