    Hi

I'm in the middle of a new build and am in need of some advice! We've put in uPVC windows which are black inside & out, what I'm wondering is what should I do with the window boards should I paint them white or stain them? Our skirting and architrave will be white with oak internal doors! Who knew these decisions would be so hard!!

Any advice would be much appreciated x

I will resist the temptation to ask why you would put in black pvc windows, and put in my suggestion. That would be to paint the sills white to match the other paintwork. I don't think it is an ideal solution, but to stain them would mean you have them similar to the doors, but the doors are surrounded by white whereas the sills would be 'surrounded by' black.

Even as I type I am changing my mind, and the other thing that occurs to me is that if you stain the window boards and decide they don't look right you could paint over them, very hard to do it the other way round.

Personal choice I know, but I don't get the liking for doors one colour/material and architrave different.
    But that aside.

I'd be painting the sills the same colour as the architrave.
And Colourtrend do a French White which is nicer than regular white.
I think staining the sills might make it too dark, especially with the black window frame on the inside.

    OP.
What did you end up doing?

I stained them a dark brown teak/mahogany colour. Used dark brown wooden blinds as well.
Looks perfect to me.... and others who see it.

Why would you not suggest black pic windows. starting a new build and in my head I have decided to go for black windows, red front door, black garage door. Nothing bought or officially decided so all advice welcome !

It's having the black on the inside as well as the outside that's the issue, I'd imagine.

Personally speaking, I'm all for having any colour except white on the outside.

What are people generally choosing for the inside ? I haven't given the inside much thought in comparison to the outside!

We went with bog oak colour which is basically black on the outside and white on the inside. We used the colour trend French white on the window sills. It cost €700 extra to have a different colour on the inside because we have lots of Windows but it was worth it because they look great.

I would imagine most would choose white on the inside.
It'll never date and goes with every colour paint or wallpaper pattern.

I chose navy for outside/white inside and am very happy with how they look.
I have navy front and back doors also.
