Hi! I am looking at taking my bike in a bike box to Vancouver next year.
Westjet is the cheapest ticket i can find...
It will involve x 3 flights...
    Dublin-St Johns
    St Johns-Toronto
    Toronto - Vancouver...

There is approx 1.5-2 hours between connecting flights...

    My concerns are...
-Westjet fly a 737 700 ...is this really small and uncomfortable?
-is it possible my bike wont make it to Vancouver?

And any feedback on flying with West jet?

The next cheapest ticket is with Air Transat...

    Thank you!

WS 737-700's are comfortable with a very good inflight entertainment system. Would be happy to fly TA with them.

Must be some bike if you're going to drag it all the way to YVR. Personally I'd put it up for sale on Advert.ie and by a new one in Canada for half the price.

Bear in mind you'll need to clear customs (including your bike) in St. Johns and then recheck the bike back onto the plane.

In case you aren't aware, there's a seasonal non-stop flight to Vancouver on Air Canada which might not be too much more expensive and a lot less hassle.

Hi! The West Jet flight was €380 approx..
Air Transat was about €100 more...
Then the mores direct options were €7-800 +!

No problems with Westjet when I flew with them recently. I spent a little extra and booked the exit rows on 2 of the flights but found the leg room ok on the other 2 flights. They appear to be in the process of removing the back seat screens on their aircraft and on the transatlantic sectors and I had to use my smartphone or tablet to view the inflight entertainment. You have to download the Westjet app and then you log via the aircraft wifi. As it was in the introductory phase it was free but the cost will be $6.99 when introduced fully. They only provide free drinks and a biscuit, if you want food you have to buy that also, but as the sectors were between 3 - 4 hours I survived.
They have a size limit but no weight limit on hand baggage so I was able to save on baggage charges.
As was stated earlier you have to disembark in St. John's where everyone clears customs & immigration , however there were lots of staff so it only took about 5 minutes to clear.

Have a look at Lufthansa, I went to the west coast of the US last year and then flew back from Vancouver all via Frankfurt, luggage checked through from Dublin - Frankfurt - US
    Vancouver - Frankfurt - Dublin

The cost was much cheaper that Aer Lingus, BA, Air Canada etc.

Good evening! Thank you for the replies...i appreciate it!
Yea Westjet seem like the Ryanair of Transatlantic...

So with the 3 flights i imagine i should clear customs in time...

Thanks for the info on Lufthansa....i will check them out!

Won't be clearing Canadian customs until you arrive in Canada, so make sure you have adequate time for this.

I got Air France to Vancouver there the other day for E585. Slim stop over times too. Booked on Kayak.

    KLM Amsterdam-Edmonton-Vancouver was similarly priced.

Would you not buy a cheap return and not take the last leg?

Not a good idea, as most operators will cancel the return sectors if you don't take the entire outbound flight sectors

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

That's what I mean. He said it's one way, drop the return sector.

Thanks! The plan is to fly to Vancouver and cycle south along the coast...
Then fly back to Dublin from San Diego; probably fly home with Jet Blue & Aer Finglas!
