We bought goods for trade shows that we used in Ireland and paid for in Ireland. We re-claimed the VAT. No problem here. But we want to recharge portion of the cost to US based subsidiary ( the goods stay in Ireland) do we need to charge Irish VAt on the invoice?

Apologies....i misread your original post.Ignore my last one!

Yes...you do charge Irish VAT...which you then hand over to Revenue in your next VAT return....

The only instance in which you wouldn't charge VAT is if the customer holds a VAT exemption cert (often the case with multi-nationals where the vast majority of the goods they sell are exported).
