Returning to an old company

    I left a company 10 years ago.

I left on my own terms after a year but my main motivation was a manager.

I had an interview with them today. I'm confident of getting at least an offer. The reason for me leaving came up and they dont have any issue with that. The said manager has since left the company.

On paper they are a great company but I am a bit wary of rejoining them.

I also have another offer coming I believe from another company. They both should be similar companies/offers.

Any thoughts on joining a company you left before?

It would not be unheard of for people to return to an old company, after education or other jobs. As the saying goes: one never steps into the same river twice. Thus after that amount of time new people, tasks, organisation drift would make it into a nearly a fresh start.

I did it and regretted it. It was like going back in time to be honest. Even with new faces there the "culture" remained the same. It wasn't a bad one, I had just moved on from that type of culture with the experience I gained in the 11 years away from that company. Go with your gut or better yet flip a coin, they say when the coin is in the air you know what you're hoping for ;)

I've accepted the offer with the old company. Handing in my notice tomorrow.

Fair play on accepting and good luck with it, but the below line is striking to me.

You are already going in worried to a certain extent. If you weren't fully confident in going back you prob shouldn't have. It just feels like you could end up sick of the place after a few weeks again, even with a different boss.

    Good luck though!

The main reason I left was one person. he has since retired so hopefully no longer an issue.

Wouldn't recommend going back to old companies, there's a reason why you left - ( I know you say it's cos a manager) but there could be other reasons you have forgotten about

Might be the worst decision I ever made but staying where I am would just be as bad of a decision. I'm moving for the opportunity
