So some ****er backed into my car in Shannon today... Any ideas from people in the know if this can be fixed or whether it would need a new bumper? And how much am I looking at...?

You could fix it but there's no guarantee it wouldn't crack if it got a tiny tip again.
Probably looking around €1k for a genuine bumper painted well.

Where in Shannon did it happen?

Thanks. Was at the Oakwood hotel at lunch time. My own fault; I got out for a look and whatever way I looked from the drivers side at it I missed it... Was a tiny little bump and no damage on their car so just took a quick glance and assumed was OK. Whatever way I mis-judged the angles I thought if anything it hit the drivers side. Was in a rush too of course but that's no excuse.

My first time; life lesson learned... If that happened someone else I'd berate them and call them an idiot for not checking it properly, so can only do the same to myself...

Have a call in with the hotel to check if cctv covers it (might have the reg of the jeep) as was outside the front door, but not overly hopeful.

A swinging gate in the wind resulted in catching the corner of the front bumper of my 5 Series a few months back. Only surface damage but the entire bumper still had to be repainted, cost me €300 but the job is perfect. The same place did a similar job for me on a different car previously and I had no complaints with that work either. Not sure if your bumper is salvageable but they are based in Limerick city so if you're looking for their contact details let me know.

I think that bumper is well within the bounds of being repairable. 250-300 should do it.

Do any of ye have a recommendation for a good body shop in Galway/Oranmore?

Yep! Frank Byrnes Autobody, just outside Oranmore. One of the best around imo. He does an overnight repair service which would be ideal for damage like that. http://www.frankbyrnes.com/overnight-body-repairs

Thanks for the info; will keep in mind if I've to go that way.

That will repair. The headlight washer mechanism is probably damaged.
The washer hinge mechanism that supports the little white cap over the washer jet is a unit that is plastic welded or glued to the bumper so even if those bits are broken its not a lost cause.

Just as an update, got a quote of €315 to repair it frome Byrnes and a quote of €1,460 from Audi for a new bumper...

Well it was still a toss up until the hotel rang and said their outside camera doesn't work and didn't get the reg of the car that did it...

Will be ringing Byrnes in the morning I think! 😉
