What to wear with dress?

I'm wearing this dress soon for a family wedding.

I plan to wear nude shoes and a bag. I have a shawl too, but it's not very December appropriate! I'm not keen on wearing a fur, it's a small, casual enough wedding, and I'm not really a fur kinda gal! I'd love to have my arms covered too (as in, all day!). I wore the dress to another wedding recently, and after I saw the photos, I decided I either need to cover my arms, or start lifting weights!
A cardigan is probably a bit too casual, what can I wear!

I'm not mad about the sleeves! I think I want someone to tell me it's perfectly acceptable to wear a cardigan. But I don't really think it is!

I would wear a sequin bolero- perfect for winter wedding, can be worn all day, dresses it up.

I just realised the dress is navy, not black! I'd wear a cashmere cardi with it, something very soft and luxurious, but in my opinion a lesser cardi wouldn't cut it!

I know you said you don't like fake fur but this is very subtle IMO and both classic but also fashionable (basically I'm probably going to buy it myself!)

FWIW, I think a cardigan would struggle to look fancy enough. I think either a blazer or smart coat/jacket only really, as a shawl might not be sufficient for a winter wedding.

That's really beautiful but the dress is navy, plus you couldn't wear this all day.

Meh, I wear navy with black when i want to. Actually the navy John Lewis Jacket you've linked to is styled over a black outfit. I really wouldnt let that hold you back OP, and I don't just mean the jacket I linked to but any black jacket. It doesn't work in all instances but it can work if styled correctly.

Regarding how heavy the outfit needs to be, well only the OP can answer - maybe this is purely for covering arms and she intends to wear a coat when coming and going in addition to this. If theres a church element, she'd also need something warmer!

The wedding is all in one place, so there's no moving from church to hotel, but it's also a very very small wedding, so it's not your traditional day with a crowd of people, and I don't think there's any band, so no dancing. Normally at weddings, I find the sheer volume of people Warms up the venue, but that isn't so this time! I don't want to be cold!
So basically I'm more concerned with covering arms, and being warm indoors. I am not worried about a coat, or keeping warm outdoors!

That grey would look very dull over navy at a winter wedding IMO

I have to agree, it's very plain and as the dress is very plain too, it will look boring. I wear a navy dress and grey cardigan to work!

I really think you need something with a little lace or sparkle if you're going to be wearing it all day.
The dress is nice but the grey shrug will make it look dowdy.

I agree. While it wouldnt look totally awful, I don't think it would do you any favours either op, its just a bit too plain. I'd be thinking a bit of sparkle/embellishment for a winter wedding or any winter social function really, but especially a wedding.

What age group are you in OP?

Thanks guys. I'm mid (ish) 30s. TBH, I don't have a lot of time to get sorted, and I don't have any time for real shopping (as in, physically looking around shops)!
