There's so few of them it'd be hard to determine or an Irish OMSP.
What are they being advertised for in Ireland? If there are even any for sale I'm sure they'd be keen to sell.

I'm purchasing an older vehicle from a friend in U.K. And am completely confused about how to obtain this new Certificate of Conformity that I need to load online so I can make an appointment at the nct centre to register vehicle for Vrt.

Do I need to send off UK registration document to put car in my name and will it be automatically returned with new docs. Or should I ring DVLA to request same? Any help would be appreciated.

You can usually get one from the manufacturer here.

    How old is the car?

Certificate of Conformity normally only applies to a brand new car rather than a second hand one. The only other scenario I can you needing one is if the car is really old.

Also unless you are a UK resident then you cannot get the car's registration put in your name in the UK.

Do they ask for proof of residency?

I mean what's to stop Joe soap buying a car, putting his address as his cousin Mickeys' in Slough, and bringing car back here and parking it for 6months?

Yes if you were applying for a vrt exemption, they would be looking for supporting documentation that you were living in the U.K and that you had that car.

I can hardly see the point in importing a 15 year old fiesta though. Between travel, VRT, NCT and time, even if you get the car for free it's still costing you a bit.
