Hey everyone. I was wondering how the gay community in Ireland feel about the word "Queer"

For all my life, growing up in rural Ireland, I always thought that the Q word was a pejorative term against homosexuals, I only viewed the word only in it's negative context.

Up until very recently I had only known of term LGBT. as an initialism that stood for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender.

But ironically it was Donald Trump who I first heard use the initialism LGBTQ, and I was surprised to find out the Q stood for Queer.

Looking into it further I read that LGBT organisation prefer adding Q to the initialism, taking want used to be a negative term to describe sexual and gender minorities that are not heterosexual or not cisgender.
