    Hello,
When we went to a group meeting with Intreo last month, they said that social welfare will be continued to be paid for the first month of your new job, if you get a new job that doesn't pay until the end of the first month, to help you transition.

I have just been offered a job abroad, in Europe. They won't pay until the end of the first month. Has anyone heard of this situation? Will Social Welfare keep paying for the first month in this scenario? Has anyone heard of it happening to anyone else,

    thank you v much.

By any chance was it a Jobpath meeting? That info is incorrect. Once you start a new job your jobseekers must close. Any days paid after you start would be considered overpaid and you would be expected to repay them. However you can go to the Community Welfare Officer and they may be able to help you with a payment until the first pay comes through, you would not be expected to repay this once you receive your salary.
Your issue is that you would not be in the country so it is unlikely that they would pay in this circumstance, but no harm in asking.

    Good luck with the job
