Child Maintenance Question

My partner separated from her husband almost two years ago; she will be . One child went to live with him, while the other stayed with her. Despite agreeing to pay maintenance for the child that remained with her he did not pay a cent until he was compelled to do so through our local court. His salary is substantially higher than hers. She is on the verge of moving in with me. This has seemingly prompted him to contact his solicitor regarding his obligation for future maintenance payments. My partner has just received a letter instructing her to attend court early in the new year.

I am looking for advice regarding her rights in this situation. Replies would be much appreciated. If further details are necessary, I will happily provide them.
