Anybody have any ideas where I can get some light roller chain and sprockets, any old machines being broken etc, Preferably smaller than bicycle chain. What machines use light chain? All ideas welcome

Chain cam engine chain, not Hy-Vo type but roller chain is lightweight.

Way too heavy for what I need, I'm sure I came across some a few years ago but can't remember in what. Maybe old vending machine or photocopier etc?

Maybe try a search for your local bearing supplier. They usually stock all kinds of machinery parts or can source them.

Central bearings in Galway are excellent. I'm sure they would post.

Also try your local engineering shop.

I'm sure I've seen something not entirely dissimilar to Meccano chains in some equipment like old computer printers etc. in the past. It's not roller chain, so not sure if it'd take the load you're envisaging, but it's readily available all over the internet, such as here ... http://www.meccanospares.com/sprockets-and-chains.html

Thanks for that, I've seen it but not really what I want, I'm sure there are old vending machines or similar that used chains just to locate one.

    What for?

    Toothed belt might work better?
