Apply for a quick passport while living in the UK

Hi there, I'm living in the UK and my passport has just expired. I'm just wondering if there's a quick way to get one before Christmas?

Current processing time is 7 weeks due to people applying for Irish passport following Brexit. The DFA mentioned something on the Irish Embassy website about getting a temporary passport if I have a flight booked

Has anyone had any experience with it?

    Thanks

Are you flying UK to ROI? If so, some airlines (check with them) allow driving licences and similar ID instead of passports.

If you have already held an Irish passport, getting one renewed is (as far as I read) comes first compared to the "brexit" first timers.

You can get a temporary passport at the IRish Embassy in London

You can get a temp passport but a boat would be cheaper and you need no passports.
