I've a Mk6 GTi that I'm looking to put new bulbs into (H7 and H15). The stock bulbs are quite yellow and I'd like a more white, clearer light (not blue). Could anyone recommend some decent bulbs?

    Thanks.

I like the Philips X-treme Vision, ordered them from Power Bulbs, I assume there's stockists here too...

    Osram nightbreaker http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-x-H7-OSRAM-NIGHT-BREAKER-UNLIMITED-TWIN-HARDCASE-PACK-HEADLIGHT-BULBS-64210NBU-/161036643937

Just make sure not to touch the bulbs without gloves when installing them or they will not last long.

I like nightbreakers myself. Give them a go.

Used to have nightbreakers, never had any real issue with them - lasted more than 1 year, less than 2 usually.
Tried phillips extreme - went just after 12months. Disappoint, could be just unlucky.
Have Halfords 130+ bulbs now. They're good but I don't expect them to last any longer than the phillips.

Nightbreakers for me were a good compromise between brightness/colour/longevity - other people have had different experiences with them though.

I've used Nightbreakers in my e46 since I got it. And I find that they go too quickly. I'd say I get a year out of them, and I definitely don't touch the glass when replacing them. For whatever reason they just don't seem to last for me.

The Halfords ones only make sense if you have a trade card. Otherwise night breakers are the way to go.

I was stuck, usually I'd have a spare set of decent bulbs. Only had the "boggo spare spares" and couldnt be arsed doing two bulb changes. Id have thrown in the boggo cheap ones if i wasnt next door to halfords or if it was summer.

Will wait for the next power bulbs discount code and get some decent backup bulbs for the fleet I think.

The Halfords ones last roughly as long as nightbreakers.
RRP on the ones that are equivalent to the night breaker unlimited is €57
I've just been using the 130 ones instead as they're indistinguishable to me. Think I pay €11 each for them RRP is €20 or something which is nuts.

    57????

I felt a bit silly paying 35 for the pair. Well 31.50 with the 10%.

yeah for the HID style pack it's €57 Rrp but €28 with the card.

You get a pair of deadly parking light bulbs that are really wh Ye but not LED. Prpble. Is they don't sell them separately so when one blew I had to get rid of both.

Stuck ambers in for the laugh.

Are those Phillips Xtreme-Vision any good for 19.99?

Going into a Honda Accord 09.

They're as good as the Halford brand ones I paid the convenience tax of an extra 11.50 for!

Xtreme Vision and Night-breakers only produce more light, as in distance, on the road. They will still have the Halogen yellow glow from them. For a more xenon look you will need Philips Whitevision or whatever Osram produce, think it is called Icewhite. I have the H7 Whitevision in my car, the headlight looks much whiter than normal, also the light produced in great on the road. I would drive a lot of unlit B roads.

The osram ones that are more white are night breaker unlimited

Have the nightbreaker unlimited and find them a good improvement.

Have the Philips Whitevision in my Father-in-law's Passat. They are a good improvement over standard halogens. However, you will never get close to HID output with a halogen bulb.

You need to balance what you want from a bulb. If you do a lot of driving on unlit roads, then an upgrade is for you. If you want long life, then you're better off staying with standard halogen bulbs.

If a bulb is made to burn brighter, it will have a shorter life. Simple physics.
