Help with 3 Broadband / Antenna / Mast

I'm new to all of this so please bear with me,

I have a new 3 sim card but I'm using it in an older Huawei E122 dongle plugged into a new TP-Link MR3420 router and the signal is average during the day but cuts out at night probably due to congestion?

Anyway I set up a cantenna, a tin can with the dongle inside like what you see online and the signal improved a lot after I moved everything upstairs and pointed it out the window towards my nearest 3 mast which is about 3km away,

I have a clear line of sight to the mast but the more people (3 of us) go online it slows down again and drops out, but only at night,

I'm thinking the Huawei E122 is only 3G and not capable of picking up 4G?

I get an aqua colour light but if I move the cantenna outside the window it will go dark blue!

I know the cantenna I made was rough & ready and I might need to make adjustments to match the exact dimensions shown on various sites but its working!

anything else I can do to improve the reception and have 3 people using the WiFi like it used to be with Meteor?

    thanks...

A max of 21Mbps (in reality a lot less) between 3 users isn't great. Have you tested for 4G coverage in that area with a phone that's 4g capable?

No I haven't... all our phones are on Vodafone but I'll see if I can get my hands on a 3 mobile that's 4G capable..

    EDIT:

Just checked the 3 website again and it shows 4G as outdoor only in my area!!

Thats fine, antenna in an upstairs window can be quite equivalent to out doors.

I'm struggling to find anyone with a 3 mobile phone, :o

any other way of checking... or is my E122 dongle even capable of 4G?
