Hi folks, a weird one to run by you all. When the car is stopped, the rear nearside handbrake mechanism can be heard engaging & disengaging constantly. This is only stopped by actually activating the handbrake (which I don't normally use but I find myself having to now). No issue once the car is running.

    Any ideas ?

I had a 2005 a6 with a similar problem, check the connector going into the electric handbrake. on my one the cable had worn and was cracking away from the back of the plug. the connector is very cheap and you can just replace it into the existing wire a few cms up the cable.
Audi wanted nearly 1400 to replace the wiring loom and the control module,
the connectors and labour were all done for under 40.

It could be a faulty switch.

could be something like crumbs or something else in between the contacts of the switch

here's a video how to change the switch, not for the faint of heart, but would be a whole lot cheaper then main dealer
