Just a few words inspired by the works of Leonard Cohen
May he rest in love and peace.

As I fell into oblivion, I threw a last thought to you
Spiraling through the tears of the nights drunken emotion
    Not content with simple love
I looked to build a cathedral
    to passionate pain
    and searing hurt
    To true love found
    And lost again
To all that I can never have
to all I've had and taken too
    And upon that high alter
    I place my beating heart
    An offering to your convenience
    For you to use
    As you see fit
    Or abuse
    In moments of lost devotion.

That does no justice to Cohen's work.

I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o'er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
    A host, of golden daffodils;
    First we take Manhatten,
    Then we take Berlin.

And all I ever learned from love

If the sun would lose its light
And we lived an endless night
And there was nothing left that you could feel
    That's how it would be
What my life would seem to me
If I didn't have your love to make it real

If the stars were all unpinned
And a cold and bitter wind
Swallowed up the world without a trace
Ah, well that's where I would be
What my life would seem to me
If I couldn't lift the veil and see your face

And if no leaves were on the tree
And no water in the sea
And the break of day had nothing to reveal
That's how broken I would be
What my life would seem to me
If I didn't have your love to make it real

If the sun would lose its light
And we lived in an endless night
And there was nothing left that you could feel
If the sea were sand alone
And the flowers made of stone
And no one that you hurt could ever heal
Well that's how broken I would be
What my life would seem to me
If I didn't have your love to make it real

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen,
you know Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen,
    But do you recall
The most famous reindeer of all
    Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
    Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it
You would even say it glows
    All of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names
    They never let poor Rudolph
    Join in any reindeer games

    Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
    Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Won't you guide my sleigh tonight
Then how all the reindeer loved him,
As they shouted out with glee,
    Rudolph the red-nose Reindeer
    You'll go down in history
    Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer
    Had a very shiny nose
And if you ever saw it,
You would even say it glows,
And all of the other reindeer
Used to laugh and call him names,
    They never let poor Rudolph
    Join in any reindeer games,
    Then one foggy Christmas Eve,
    Santa came to say,
Rudolph with your nose so bright,
Wont you guide my sleigh tonight
Then how all the reindeer loved him,
As they shouted out with glee,
    Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,
    You'll go down in history

    Les Allemands étaient chez moi
    ils m'ont dit "Résigne-toi"
    mais je n'ai pas pu
    j'ai repris mon arme

J'ai changé cent fois de nom
    j'ai perdu femme et enfants
    mais j'ai tant d'amis
    j'ai la France entière

Un vieil homme dans un grenier
pour la nuit nous a cachés
    les Allemands l'ont pris
    il est mort sans surprise

So in the night I stand beneath the backstreet light
I read the words that you sent to me
I can take the afternoon, the night time comes around
    too soon
You can't know what you mean to me

    Since you've been Cohen....Rainbow

Read all the stuff about him in the papers over the weekend and even though i never got into his music, he seemed like such an interesting and cool guy.

Sorry I don't happen to be gay - but thanks for the compliment anyway.

That does no justice to Cohen's work.

I agree but its the thought that counts.

Yeah, deemed by many to be the definitive version, an opinion with which I very strongly disagree.
