    Thanks

Are you talking about self-publishing, or getting a traditional publishing deal?

    What sort of non-fiction?

Is the book already written and edited? What's the potential market?

Traditional publishing deal, that's the one, non fiction, real life, memoir's.

No the book is not yet written, potential non fiction readers.

Memoir is its own genre in publishing.

Have you any of it written at all? Have you experience in writing and being published in any format?

Unless your life has been remarkable, or you're a celebrity, or the part of your life you're thinking you want to commit to memoir is unique and has a clear selling point, you'll find it hard to get someone to take you on without the book written.

    What she said.

"Non fiction readers" covers just about everyone on the planet. What is unique and remarkable about your story that will make people pay money for it?

Do you have experience writing? Actually finishing a book is always difficult. A memoir can be ever harder because you have to research the whole thing as you go, and constantly fact check. And that's before you decide what to put in and what to leave out.

Is it a memoir of someone who is still alive? Do you have permission to write it? Literally every single person you mention in the book will be reading it with an eye to libel. Are you prepared for that?

If it's a family member who lived an interesting life that you want to record, you might be better self-publishing it as a Print on Demand book so that relatives can get a copy, and you'll have less issues with trying to market it.

Othewise, be prepared to commit a couple of years of your life to writing it, and that's before you get a publishing deal.
