Splitting single satellite feed to two boxes

Well, almost. I have a new TV, which allows me to receive both Irish and English channels without the need for a settop box, as I use saorview and free view, no sub to sky or upc

However, I would like to connect an old sky box to the TV for the single purpose of receiving the Eir sports package. (I have used the Eir sport app through an mk808b box, but find that the stream isn't reliable during heavy usage, big games/fights)

I currently have two cables running from a diplexer at the TV point on the wall, and instead of disconnecting from the TV and connecting to the sky box, then swapping back every time I want to use the channels, I wondered if it would work to split the satellite cable after the diplexer with some type of 'Y' connector and have both connected, then just select the input I want

Any advice, for or against, is most welcome, or if there's some simple solution I've overlooked, please let me know
