Half of my tooth/grey filling is gone

One of my premolars was vertically half filled with an amalgam filling a few years ago. The filling just came out earlier today, I think it was when I was brushing my teeth, and now I basically have half a tooth left with the inside of my tooth exposed. There's no throbbing pain or anything, that side of my mouth has just gone very cold and sensitive (haven't eaten or been drinking anything for the past few hours so I don't know why it's cold). Wasn't able to get an emergency appointment today, the earliest I could get was Monday.

I'm really worried because the dentine is basically exposed, and I still want to keep that half of my tooth if I can! What can I do in the meantime to prevent it getting worse? The sensitivity is really bothering me, and I'm worried about eating and drinking because of the way the tooth is. Is it okay that it has to be left like this for the next day or so? Is it likely to get worse because I wasn't able to get an appointment asap?
