Hi im just looking to know could you help me in finding an 4K AV receiver, I currently have a Pioneer VSX 330 and am very happy with it. The problem is it has a hdmi pass through but cant pass through the hdr signals and doesnt have hdcp 2.2 etc.

So am looking for a replacement, would prefer to stick to pioneer, sony, yamaha if possible.
I still have the book shelf speakers that came with the pioneer so would want to use these with the new av receiver if possible.

So the new av receiver im looking for would need to be future proofed in having at some hdcp 2.2 ports, must have hdmi 2.0/2.0a to pass through 4k and hdr, 4.4.4 colour and so on, it doesnt need an upscaler built in or anything. Looking at a budget max of 450 euros

Hopefully you might be able to point me in the right direction, also wanted to ask if you would have any ex display or anything in your belfast store as would consider them too, but preferably new, thanks

    Hi Soap MacTavish.

    Thanks for getting in touch.

You could have a look at the following:

Sony 1060 which is currently priced at £349.00
    http://www.richersounds.ie/p-201384-sony-strdn1060.aspx

Pioneer also have the VSX831 which is currently a special order priced at £299.00
    http://www.richersounds.com/product/av-receivers/pioneer/vsx831/pion-vsx831-blk

Stretching the budget a little there is the highly reviewed Denon AVRX2300 currently priced at £499 but I could offer one for £450.00 or 530.00 Euro

Let me know if any of these catch your eye.

    HI Soap,

Personally, although the yamahas are very good amps, I think the Denon is much better to be honest.Overall tone and detail is superb, and music particularly would be better
Well worth the extra in my opinion

Thanks for the help, would you happen to have both of these set up in your store to listen to? also would there be any kind of boards discount on the yamaha? and would by any chance you have any recommendations for a set of speakers to go with either of these? i currently have a set of pioneer 5.1 HTP-073 speaker set, with a resistance of 6 per speaker, i wouldnt be well up on speaker matching to be honest so any advice is welcome cheers

    Cheers soap

The Denon we do have running in our demo room, the RXV581 we have on display, so we could get on if need be
Speaker wise, a very good match for the denon, and probably the best package you'll get for wall mounted, would be the Monitor Audio Mass pack at €699 - I could do a bundle pricing for you
If you wanted to have a look/listen to the Denon, you can organise a demo Mon-Fri in the store

    Cheers

    Hi MacTavish.

We can arrange for Demos any day of the week. We prefer not try and avoid weekends as they are our busiest times.
We do stock the NSF51 and the 050 subwoofer but not the NSP51.

The speakers would work along with any of the A/v receivers that we stock.

We always recommend booking in advance for a demo, to makes sure there is a free slot and to also check we have the stock for demo at that time.

I hope this is of help.

Hi thanks for all the help so far, extremely appreciated, I'm actually planning to head up to Belfast this Sunday the 27th and Monday the 28th and was hoping to demo the denon avr2300 you recommended and the Yamaha rxv681 and if possible the Yamaha NSF51 speakers and any other speakers you would recommend to start building a surround sound package, which day would suit best for a demo? I assume the sunday would probably be too crazy, thanks again

hi guys could i go up on the sunday to demo the denon and the yamaha and possibly the yamaha speakers, when you open around 1pm or 2pm? i just saw the denon avr2300 just got reduced for black friday is this the best price or is there any further discount for boards? also would it be possible to hold one just till Sunday or would i have to order it online to secure one? as I'd personally rather pick it up in store since I'm heading up that way specially to demo the speakers and that and am extremely interested in the denon thanks

    Soap,

apologies for the delay getting back to you - unfortunately I think the demo room will be closed on Sunday as its still crammed with stock - we hate closing the demo room ( we normally only close it on December 26th) but we have had to get an emergency delivery in this morning which has us filled to the gills - there is a possibility that it will re-open on Monday so keep me posted if you are still local on Monday..

Alternatively if you purchase the Yamaha speakers and don't like them we are happy for you to return them within 14 days if you don't like them?

The AVRX2300 at £399 / €499 is pretty tight at the moment - its selling for up to €699 in some ROI stores at the moment

Thanks again and keep us posted if we can assist,

    ATVB,

Hi got sorted in the end, went for the Denon AVRX2300 and 2 front Monitor Audio Bronze 2's with the 6 year guarantee, didn't get a chance to test them out but said i'l take the chance on them going by the glowing reviews, am extremely looking forward to trying them out now, must say a big thanks to David who was extremely helpful with everything and who did a god deal on the bundle, Thanks again guy, will definitely be back when the wallet allows :)

One thing I forgot to ask was the way the 2 front Monitor Audio Bronze 2's are 8ohms and my current Pioneer Center and 2 surrounds are both 6ohms and are much much smaller speakers, is it ok and safe for the amp and speakers to connect all these speakers? I am planning to gradually phase out the Pioneer speakers, is there a setting i must adjust on the denon or just plug and play? as i thought  i read somewhere you must set the denon if running 6ohm speakers might be mixing that bit up thought thanks

    Hey Soap MacTavish.

Thanks for the kind words and I'll pass them onto David.

Yeah the amp will have no issue running all the speakers together. Don't think I've seen that you need a different setup for 6ohm speakers.
Its pretty straight forward to set up either using the setup mic or just by ear.

Give it a go and let me know if you have any questions.
