I know I should wait til nearer the end of the year but screw it, I'm throwing it out there now. Lots of people say this year has been a bad one, has 2016 been a particularly bad year for you?

I'll start by sharing some highs and lows.

    2016 - Best Bits
In March I welcomed my son into the world

    2016 - Worst bits
My son was very ill when he was born
In October he was diagnosed with a lifelong condition
In May my dog died. He was only six years old.

Anyone else care to bulletpoint their year?

David Bowie, Muhammad Ali, Prince, Leonard Cohen, Frank Kelly, Gene Wilder, Alan Rickman all died.

I'm hoping for a quiet last 6 weeks!

2016 is a year I want to forget.

In June my mum had heart surgery and my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 brain cancer.

In July we lost my dad

In October I lost my job.

So been a bloody awful year and not one I ever want to repeat

The only good side is that my mum has recovered well considering what she has gone through.

At this point if a scary clown invited me to follow him into a dark forest I would probably just go.

I got married, went on honeymoon and then...pregnant. So 2016 has been pregnant. Nearly there tho!

My dad died in March very suddenly. He was my best friend and I worked with him (I now run the small company he started). Nothing has come close to being remotely as upsetting in my life.

Brexit, Trump and all that bollox doesn't really matter in my life. If there's one thing my dad dieing has thought me its that the only events that matter to me are the ones that I can change so it was a great life lesson.

Pretty good, my daughter was born, I got through a very competitive job competition process, and started a new job which I love, and we going back to Ireland to spend Christmas with the whole family for the first time since 2010. So I'm happy!

I have my first girlfriend at 21 years old and I am very happy. I feel very innocent and naive but I guess that's what young love is all about.

I haven't died, so all in all a pretty successful year in my book.

Steady, stable, relatively uneventful so I guess that counts as good. Sorry to all of those bereaved, gives us all the perspective we need.

Lots of trips back to family in Ireland, lots of adventures with the OH, career progression and a possible promotion before the year is out. Haven't been the fitness bunny I vowed to be but have my health and the balls of 2 months to get my arse in gear so won't stress too much ;-)
