Hi has anyone bought and used the chimney balloons sold by woodies?

The brand is economiser- They don't seem to be sized which is unusual whenever you look at competitor products and the variation in chimney flues?

    Anyone any experience with them?
    Thanks in advance

I bought a different chimney balloon a few years back, you blow it up to full the flu cavity, which works ok. There is an attaching valve for blowing it up for hygiene, etc. Finally to ensure it isn't sucked up the chimney I attached a small line to it to tie it to the grate.

Overall, it's a good device, but I don't particularly like having to blow it up and you need a little waste bin for it when the fire is in use. I'd rate it about 6/10, it does do what it says on the tin.

Did you measure the flue and get the right sized balloon?

Yes (well, it was bought in Woodies, I can't remember what brand it was).

Anyway, complete waste of money. Wouldn't stay inflated or in place and didn't stop the draft. Replaced it with an old pillow and that did a much better job for us.
