Hello, I have an LG Smart TV and was considering one of these Android Boxes.
Do I really need one or can I just download apps to my TV to use that an android box would have anyway?

Don't know about LG, but there's a limited amount of apps available for Samsung smart TV's, for example no utv player, BBC iPlayer along with unmentionable add ons for sport and Movie/TV shows.
Get a box, you'll be glad you did!

    Thanks for reply....

Any suggestions for a specific box make/model?

    I see Pigsback.com are doing a deal on a MXQ Android Quad-Core for €34

or they have this one for €50 coming with a wireless keyboard

Both look very similar and have MXQ in their name

Some of the lad's in the main android thread have recent suggestions, I've a couple of boxes, Tronsmart MXIII being the preferred, try Amazon for newer version, think there's a + in the description.

Just check your app store and see if its available to you, i dont think LG has it but it may be possible to sideload it. Ive a Sony Android TV and it was as easy as going to the playstore and downloading it. It works flawlessly.

I think Sony is the only maker that has a full android OS the rest are "smart" with ****ty OS.

Over the weekend I downloaded Kodi to my Windows tablet. Set it up in about 40min through an online youtube tutorial and then broadcasted the tablet to the smart tv using Widi. Works a treat....no cables, no android box and mobile around the house if needed on the tablet. RESULT...!!!

+1 for buying a separate box. I have a Samsung smart TV.....very limited selection of apps, and I just find it a bit of a pain. Much easier to just use a separate box IMO.

    any opinions on this box?
    https://www.keltronix.ie/android-tv-boxes/q-box-2gb-ddr-16gb-android-box.html

I bought a Minix U1 from Amazon last week and it came dead out of the box so it had to go back to Amazon so just cant be bothered going down that route again

Seen this one and has decent spec and just wondering on thoughts?

They have a wireless remote aswell for 24eur so was thinking of that aswell
