I thought this would be simple.. silly me.

    The situation is not complicated.

I was PAYE in 2015, till September, then got some JSB. The prepopulated form 11 has all the numbers correct but IT/SA page has all zeroes..

    Any ideas?

Got it sorted, used the offline app and uploaded it.

Hadn't banked on them taxing the JSB payments at 40% tho.. what a kick in the b@lls.. sickening.

Its a taxable payment so is taxed at your marginal rate. If you were paye in 2015, why are you filing a form 11 rather than a form 12?

I registered as a sole trader in December.

Just to add, I thought I would have overpaid and was due a small refund for 2015, paid top rate for 9 months. The figures add up tho when the JSB becomes taxable. Still sickening that they take nearly half of it back a year later.

If you registered as a sole trader in December 2015 you weren't obliged to file a form 11 until this time next year....

I got an email from revenue saying it was due.. There is no tax liability for 2016, that gets paid next year, I understand that.

Are you saying I should have filed something different?

I appreciate the advice, it's all relatively new to me.

It's due, but under commencement rules you won't be charged a surcharge if you submit it before next year's tax deadline.

You can't say there's no liability for 2016 when the year hasn't yet ended!

I'm saying you shouldn't have bothered filing anything until next year. There might have been an advantage in preparing 13 months accounts to 31st December 2016.
