2010 Avensis, steering rack or main ecu problems?

    I was wondering if anyone had steering column or main ecu problems with the 2010 model Avensis. I bought mine 2 and a half years ago just one owner low enough mileage then within less than a year I started getting a knocking sound from the steering so I bought it back to Toyota and they done something with it that stopped the problem for a few months. Then went back again and the guy said I will always get this noise, but today I got it serviced and the mechanic said the steering column needs to be replaced that this is a common problem with this model, he advised me to go back to Toyota. During this the main ecu also has become problematic as in my central locking doesn't open the doors, Toyota also said this is not a warranty problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
