    Hi all.
I have been working as a social care worker in the intellectual disability sector for over 6 year. I moved to a new organisation 3 months ago but it's made me realise that I want a change. I'm based in Dublin. Im tired of working anti social hours and I've also got a bad Bach which required surgery.
I am stuck in a rut. I'm contemplating joining an agency here in Dublin so I can be more flexible with my time. Can anyone give me advice on agencies? And also what do people think of special needs assistants jobs?
I feel like I should get away from the caring/social area but I feel I'm no good at anything else! I did my degree in social care.
Part of me would love to just work in a little tearoom! As said previously I'm based in Dublin. thanks!

Moved from Graduates, you might have better luck here OP. You also started this thread in some other forums, these have now been deleted. Please don't start the same thread in multiple forums. Thanks.

Have you tried using LinkedIn's job search, primrose87? If you have a good solid LinkedIn profile, this automatically uses your qualifications to generate jobs in the area you set it to. Just go to the 'Jobs' tab at the top of your LinkedIn page and play around with it. It can be a bit kludgy, but if you get it working it's useful.

By the way, a bad Bach is a curse. Try switching to Mozart :p (autocomplete is a real bitch!)

Why don't you use your degree to do a professional master in a different area and change careers if it is really is more than being fed up? your in an ideal position to do so as you could reduce your hours to part time while you are studying.

What about working in day services?

The unsociable hours are a lot less and it's still the same area of work

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Im in the exact same position ive been trying for the last year to move into day services but theres ver rarely jobs advertised for it. I was considering doing the new Masters in dit. Its in leadership and management and its for social care workers. Its very manageable as its only on tuesdays 2-6. Im starting to think if i cant get better hours working and my level that i need to start moving up the chain! I don't know how else to get out of evening, night and weekend work!
