    Hi everyone

A newbie here looking for a bit of advice.

Does anyone know of any circumstances where a potential employer can retract the written offer of a temporary contract if you are 100% sure that the Garda check, health check and references would come back with no issues?

    Thanks in advance.

Depends on what exactly is says in the job offer, and on what exactly the employer says when retracting it, and on other circumstances but, generally, yes, the employer can do this. If you have altered your circumstances in reliance on the job offer (e.g. by quitting your current position) then you might have a claim for damages. But there are very few circumstances in which you can compel an employer to hire you, and I think this would not be one of them.

It's unfortunate, but possibly the employer's situation has changed, e.g. sudden loss of a customer, restructuring etc.

You're on probation at first so can be let go for no reason and with notime in the first 13 weeks anyways.
