Hi , I have planned a trip to Lanzarote for the 20th -27th November, was a last minute idea to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. Flights worked out at 530 for the two of us and I am currently trying to book accommodation. Was reading up on PDC and it looks nice, we are thinking about renting a car to go touring. I was hoping for accommodation for 7nights at 500 euro beside the centre of PDC so we don't have to drive for meals and drinks in the evening. But judging by some hotel websites there is very little for under 500 for 7 nights. Any advice greatly appreciated , thanks in advance

If you have a look at www.omnicarslanzarote.com you'll get a very competitive quote for car hire. I use them myself and find them great to deal with. Their use of FB to do business is a bit odd, but it's worked for me!

I wouldn't get hung up on staying in the middle of PdC to be honest. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. Hotel Floresta in Los Pocillos is fine. Next to beach and a good selection of bars and restaurants. I had this booked last year as a reserve option in case I couldn't get a bungalow in the Costa Sal (which is booked out for your dates).

You could look at Lomo Blanco in PdC. A colleague of mine stays there at least once a year and loves it. It's up a hill but at least you're in the resort!

If neither of those suit, you'll be struggling to get something close to your budget, but it's worth looking on AirBnB too...

    Enjoy your holiday!

+1 on Costa Sal, was there a few years ago and it was good. Was in Floresta this year as the former was booked out. Not as good but location is great for restaurants and shops.

I always use AutoReisen for car hire, never had a problem with them.

Thank you for your advice , I ended up booking an apartment on Air b&b ,

You may be able to help me with my next quest , as it is my boyfriends birthday I was hoping to surprise him when we get there , as I had originally planned on booking a hotel I was going to ask the hotel to have a bottle of champagne, roses and strawberries/chocolates etc delivered to the hotel room.

As I am staying in someones apartment now I am unsure whether it is too much to ask of the lady who owns the apartment (she has a few listings on Air b&b) . I have messaged the lady asking for something special which I have no issue paying for but I was thinking that maybe if I booked interflora to deliver champagne flowers etc to the door of the apartment instead it may be easier.

Any ideas or opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your help so far

Your host will probably oblige, but if not, I fail to see how interflora (if they're even on the island) would be a viable option given someone would need to be present at the apartment to accept delivery and place the stuff in your room. Given the pressure on accommodation there at the moment, you'd need to be absolutely certain the guests there ahead of you don't think the stuff is for them!

Honestly though, your BF should be super stoked that you've booked a holiday for him. If you're going to throw a chunk of change at something like an interflora delivery, you'd be better saving your cash and perhaps going somewhere nice for dinner and spoiling him there. Plenty of restaurants will make it a nice occasion for you if you book ahead.

Check out Amura in Puerto Calero (very romantic restaurant by the quayside at the marina) or Krisitans in the old part of PdC. The restaurant in Lani's Suites will do something nice for you too if given advance warning. Likewise, Aqua Suites restaurant is fantastic (bro-in-law just back, still raving about it!).

Have a look on FB for a group called "Need to Know Lanzarote". Loads of locals on there who will happily advise on the logistics of organising flowers and champagne if you want to proceed!

    Freddie is female!

But yes, I'd recommend Omnicars to everyone...

Champers yes. But roses (as in flowers) and strawberries/chocolates, for a bloke on his birthday err.... I don't think so!
