WHILE NO BLAME IS ATTRIBUTED TO THE ORIGINAL POSTER, A MEDIA REPORT POSTED YESTERDAY ABOUT A SUPPOSED TURBULENCE INJURY EVENT ON AN AER LINGUS FLIGHT FROM CORK TO LANZAROTE HAS BEEN EXPOSED AS INCORRECT, AND THE EVENT DID NOT OCCUR AS REPORTED BY THE MEDIA ORGANISATIONS CITED.

ON THAT BASIS, I HAVE REMOVED THE REPORT AND THE LINKS THAT WENT TO AN EXTERNAL SITE. OUR APOLOGIES TO ANYONE THAT WAS MISLEAD OR WAS CAUSED CONCERN OR DISTRESS AS A RESULT OF A MEDIA REPORT THAT HAS BEEN PROVED TO BE COMPLETELY FALSE AND MISLEADING

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

Thank you for the rectification, I'm at a loss as to why someone would fabricate such a story and why the media push ahead and publish such claims

Has there been an explanation as to how the misinformation got circulated or a retraction by the media outlets concerned? I find in these cases they are usually much shyer to put the corrected information on the front page than they were the poorly researched article.

Aer Lingus declined to comment when contacted by Joe. Why on earth didn't they say it was inaccurate!

They probably weren't too sure, the media team from my understanding work 9-5 and wouldn't be aware off all operational issues, or perhaps Joe.ie took silence on the matter to mean no comment !!

Article is still on Joe and the evening echo so they're not too bothered about it.

Would not be surprised to hear that joe.ie "contacting EI" consisting of posting on their facebook page rather than actually contacting their official media relations department.

To be followed by Joe with a clickbait headline "you'd never guess what Aer Lingus said about......"

is every guy with a blog considered "media" these days?

btw, my eyes hurt from the font choice made by Irish Steve. In the light of recent events, I will be looking for a compensation for a "soft tissue injury" and being scared

This is a wonder example of clickbait, websites similar to the one which published this story fairystory, are not interested in accuracy or accountability. The one thing that drives them is ratings and churning people through their site to improve revenue and make them a juicy target for a big corporation take over.

To call them media is an insult to genuine journalists the world over.

Self appointed anointed media is a better term to use.

My eyes are still burning after reading that font :P

But the message needed to catch attention I guess.

And yes, I don't get the media's insistence on pushing the "dangers" of flying ??

More exciting then whiplash injuries in cars I guess ...

Sorry guys, I'd normally just use Bold on the standard font, but this particular item needed to be very clear, and to emphasise the point we were making, so that there were no doubts about the action we'd taken, and why.

I promise I won't do it again any time soon, unless we have a repeat performance, which hopefully won't be for some considerable time.

Where was it cited as incorrect and by whom?

What and whom would lead you to believe that it was correct and accurate report?

Why do you not think it was incorrect, based on this thread?

I have no doubt it is incorrect, but I'm interested in how this was found.

Are you saying that you believe the Joe.ie story?

If you have read my stance in tabloid articles, you'd know how much I don't believe in them!

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest the article is incorrect, that's all. No need for the hostility.

I'm afraid up until this point in time I was blissfully unaware of your stance in regard of tabloid articles.

Lets just look at what has taken place over the last few days or so. Joe.ie report that 3 crew members and a passenger were injured as a result of turbulence. To my knowledge only one other notable media outlet reported this incident which was the Evening Echo in Cork. They appear to have simply copied and pasted the Joe.ie article. No mention as to whether they bothered their barney to attempt to contact EI, a bit strange considering it was a story with a strong local connection.

No sign of the Indo, Irish Times, (Cork) Examiner, RTE, or any other media running with the story, now that is very unusual considering the wondefully connected world we now live in. Very odd indeed!

Err..... hostility, I have genuinely no idea where you're going with that one. Now here is a big hug if you feel I was been hostile. :D

Suffice to says that the report was from an online media outlet, which was then noted on a more reputable aviation website. With a little research (thanks to someone who was able to provide 100% proof which was then passed on to the reputable website) the initial report on the incident was proven incorrect.
Thus the reaction, which we have all moved on from.
No need for anymore querying of the situation.
