    Hi,

I have a full drivers licence (Cat: B & W) and would like to add B1 (will be moving next year and would like to rent a small van for it).

Do i need to take another test to get this added to my licence?

Stupid question i know, but would just like some clarification.

There's no such thing as B1, and you can drive a van on a category B license. Are you by any chance referring to light trucks, i.e. category C1?

Gross weight up to 3.5t, it takes a B. Anything over, you need 'next letters'.

There is no such thing as category B1 in Ireland.

It exists in some EU countries, and covers vehicles (quadricycles) up 550kg unladen weight.
    F.e. something like that:

If it's just to drive over to UK with your stuff OP it seems like a bit unnecessary to get a C1.

The op is possibly getting confused with BE licence required to tow when jeep/car and trailer combinations are above a certain weight.
