    Hi,

I am doing some basic research on the air spring suspension systems on
    articulated trucks,

how does the system works?, how the air springs are
pressured, what pressure are they at?, what happens to the expelled air?,
how much air is used?.. etc.

    thanks for your time

    Simon

Just to start off on he right foot, they're air bags or air bellows to be really correct.

The pressure depends on the load. Most trucks run max pressure of 8bar. The airbags won't get all this pressure though. I can't recall for sure but think about 5bar would be normal enough for fully laden.

They are now computer controlled and the ecu will aim to maintain a set height by varying the pressure. When it needs to lower it will dump the excess air to atmosphere
