Who rings who?

Me: I have my own car and have fully comp insurance.

Accident: Drove friend's car (with their consent) and parked on the street. Traffic was heavy but slow moving, and a vehicle from a large reputable company got too close and dented along the side of the car / bumper / wing mirror (cosmetic damage, no one hurt). Called guards, exchanged details etc. Important to note that I was not in the car, and not driving. The car was parked and I was standing on the footpath when the accident happened. Full responsibility / liability was with the company vehicle (guard said it was obvious who was responsible). And it's my judgement that company will definitely pay out whatever the cost is to repair the bodywork.

    Question: Who calls who?

    A) I call my insurer to inform them of this event?
    B) I call the insurer of friend's car to inform them of this event?
    C) I get friend to call their insurer to inform them of this event?
    D) I call the company's insurer to inform them of the event and pay the claim

Reason for my confusion is that I was actually a "witness" in the end, even though it was me who parked the car there. I was not in the car, let alone driving it at the time of the accident. But maybe an argument would be made that by parking where I did, that I actually caused the accident (have pictures of car wheels right up against the curb, on a street that allows parking (but no white markings on the road).

If I play it out, and the company insurers don't cooperate or pay out, then is it answer C (friend claims on their insurance)?

2nd question - will my insurance premium go up (if I tell them), or friend's insurance (if friend has to claim), or friend's insurance (if they are meant to be informed of incident)?

As far as I know your friend would call their insurer. As you were not under control of the car at the time it would be the same as if friend parked it.

Your role appears to be witness, unless the company responsible or the guards claim the car was parked badly, and that contributed to the accident.

Perhaps one of the many defenders of insurance companies and their antics that circle this forum will give you their version of events.

Your friend should notify their company of the incident but claim from the offenders insurance.
You as a witness do nothing unless asked!

    Update:

I spoke to the gardai and they said no need for me to contact my insurer, and no need for my friend to contact their insurer. Just need to contact the company and get them to sort it out.

So I called them and they said to go to any garage to obtain a quote, send it on to them, and they'll pay it.

    Thanks all!
