Cattle and sheep

    hello lads i have 90 acres of land 30 acres of good quality land the rest is bog land i have recently purchased 50 sheep 30 scottish blackface and 20 cheviots i am wondering because of the bog land would it be good enough to raise beef cattle also what would the cattle and sheep be like if i put them on the bog would they be good quality or terrible and would i be able to make it a full time farmer in the coming future

    Well I'm from west galway and if you have ever traveled from moycullin to maam cross or Evan Clifden you will see cattle on the bogs, but mostly Suckler cows, not sure store cattle would finish on bog land or get enough nourishment to finish under 30 months but I stand to be corrected. I'd say stick to the sheep for the bog Less chance they will dissappear into a bog hole. And if you want beef cattle keep them on the better land.

    There's alot less cattle to be seen on bad ground between moycullen and maam cross as the years go on , definitely won't finish much on it
