Sanded Stairs and applied zinser bin. What paint can I use?

    Sanded Stairs and applied zinser bin. Do i have to apply gloss. Can I apply vinyl matt. Have a tin of that with colour i want. Steps are carpeted

    As in emulsion? No it won't last, if you want a matt finish with wood use an eggshell paint. You should use an undercoat as well before using eggshell and a light sand with some fine sandpaper between coats.

    ok eggshell or gloss so are my options. i put on zinser bin. thought this would do as undercoa? i sanded before applying zinser. i will sand between coats. thanks

    Well if it covers it up well enough then it will do. I'm doing skirting atm the same way, sand - bin - undercoat - sand - undercoat - sand - eggshell. Its a lot of work but its working out well for me.
