Looking to replace all the doors in the house with white ones - nothing fancy. Tbh it's not even worth sanding down and painting the ones we have because they are not in great condition. Would anybody have any recommendations where to purchase

You can buy them from most suppliers, but many of them need a top-coat painted on them so your back to painting doors.

I would go for pre-finished oak, they look great and no painting and are much the same cost.

You will probably also need to replace the architrave and skirting boards or paint them. (I can see a lot of painting in your future!!!)

Try internaldoors.ie, they offered the best prices we could find for pre-finished doors.

(no connection other than as a customer)

B&Q are actually pretty reasonable for hollow doors, about €54 for a standard 6 panel door.

It sure isn't! It's cost me about €300-€350 door, between new frames, door, handles, hinges, labour to hang them etc.

Does that include handle, lock and hinges?

    I doubt it.

We saved about 80% on the handles/locks/hinges buying from Amazon and e-hardware.

I know! That sh*t was more expensive than I realised. But I just wondered if they did come with because it'd indicate the quality of both door and hardware.

The door companies appear to make most of their margin on the door furniture. If I remember correctly we saved €400-€500 buying the handles/hinges from Amazon and got nicer handles/hinges.

I almost choked when the door suppliers quoted €10 per polished chrome hinge and €40 per handle.

I think we were quoted something similar... €45 per door for the hardware, iirc.

Hi OP - I know you said that your current doors aren't in great condition but just hear me out! I was in the same situation when I bought my house, original doors were cheap, discoloured, and generally a bit tatty. Price of replacing them was astronomical (as I would have had to replace architrave and skirting too), so I washed the doors down with sugar soap, undercoated, painted them, and bought some swanky new handles. I get so many compliments on them now - it makes such a difference. It was a good bit of work, but definitely worth it in the end (from a cost point of view at least)

Yeah, realistically unless i win the lotto i'm not going to be able to afford all new doors for a long time. I'm not going to get the chance to paint the doors etc for a while but i might do the skirting at the weekend. Would it looks really stupid with a white skirting and wood architrave etc for a few months?

New house here and we intentionally have ivory skirting (not white it's too severe) and oak doors. I have the code of the Ivory we used if you'd like to get a sample pot?
