    Does western culture underplay the importance of Chinese civilisation to the modern world in favour of Roman, Greek and Egyptian civilisation?

    In the past, yes, but modern histories usually give more space to Chinese achievements, especially gunpowder, paper, printing, the compass, silk, lacquer, cast iron, matches, canal and wall construction and cartography
