    Hi Everyone,
    Pick the brains here please.
    Citroen c4 grand picasso 2010 1.6 hdi, 106000kms
    Regulary serviced,

Last 2 days a whizzing sound comes into engine. hardy noiticeable at tickover but when rev up to 2000rmp + u can hear it.
Loads of power when driving, no issue in that regard, no warning lights on either
Driving perfectly in ever other way

Any idea wha going on .?
Thanks in advance for all thoughts.

In your driveway, pop the bonnet, have someone rev it to 2k ir more while you locate the sound in the engine bay!

Could be turbo related. Bearings on the impeller or maybe small amount of oil getting in to the turbo causing it to over rev

    Is that a common fault?
What's the solution..new bearings or new turbo?

Common enough. Best way to check is take off the air pipe on one side of the turbo and reach it. Grab the nut on the end of the spindle shaft the impeller blade is mounted on. Try and wiggle it. There should be no play in it whatsoever. If the shaft is moving it will cause the impeller blade to rub against the side of the turbo housing causing a squeal or rattle. If you can get to the intake side of the turbo check for oil deposits inside the turbo. This would point to your oil seals failing letting the turbo shoot oil in to the engine causing it to over rev

    Will check that. Thank you.
Would it be sufficient to just replace bearing or the whole turbo need replacing?
And the elephant in the room question , What kinda bobs this be costing?
    Thanks again in advance.

Whole turbo and the turbo on these wont be given a warranty unless certain conditions are met such as replacing feeds, cleaning oil pickup in sump, measuring flow etc, will be in the 600-1000 region for direct replacement

Jaysus don't assume it's the turbo. Many items with bad bearings will whirr or whizz. Eg: power steering pump. Belt tensioners. Alternators.
Take off the aux belt , start the car, see if noise is gone. Will rule out a few items..
