My other half used to work as a nurse - it's a long story but basically she does not want to be a nurse any more - and I don't blame her. She's from south america and her English is not perfect but she can generally communicate fine for most things. I'm just wondering are there some careers that she can make use of her medical background, but not directly in nursing? Someone suggested being a medical rep - someone who goes around to doctors telling them about new drugs etc. This sounds very interesting and I'd like to know more about it. I know there are medical sales reps but she does not have any direct sales experience. Would anyone have any experience in these fields and be able to give me some help? Thanks

Sales rep probably won't work - unless she was nursing here and has contacts in hospitals here that she can make use of.

Would she consider caregiving, either hospital or in-home? The latter are always looking for staff.

Maybe some kinds of laboratory work (guessing there, might need some further training).

Maybe a doctor's receptionist - being familiar with the vocabulary would help.

Recruiting in the health care field? One of my previous (Irish) bosses used to be a nurse and he then went into recruiting and from there into more regular office jobs in market research in the health care division. With her language on top surely possible then as well.

Pharma sales rep would be very difficult to get into and not having perfect English would go against her.

Would the less stressful Health Care Assistant be an option?
