I'm back running again after a long time off. Last time I tore my achilles, probably through overtraining and pushing too far too fast.
Its been several years since then and 15kg heavier!! however I'm back in the saddle. I'm very cautious now about ramping up the distance and still feel a little tender in my calf and achilles after a several days running in a row.
I'm note sure it can hold up to the rigours of a full 42K distance but I'm definitely going to give it a go.

I'm following a modified version of the Hal Higdon Novice Supreme program as below.
Training is coming along good so far, ran my second Parkrun today in Shanganagh in 22:35 which was a big improvement on the Cabinteely one a few weeks ago when I did a 24:06, though I was hungover and I found the course quite hilly and tough.

Does that plan only have one 18 & one 20 mile LR?

    Seems a little light/low?

    Have you a target time?

Yes, it is light for sure, I'd rather do something much more intensive but after the achilles injury there is a definite weakness in that leg so I'm really afraid of overdoing it again and being unable to run for a long time again.
My intention is to follow this until at least half distance and see how my leg is handling the milage, it it's ok then I'll step it up a bit. Hoping for 3:50 - 3:59:59 finish, again depending how the leg holds up on the buildup.

27K this week done with long run just completed of 10.6k in 55 min
Decided I'm going to push a little harder than the plan above - it is a bit light in mileage compared to most others, will up the miles by one or two each outing over planned and see how my calf handles it. So far so good.
Next week am going to step back and just do a 5k parkrun at the weekend instead of a long slow one.
